Music Monday – The Wait Is Over!

The wait is over, people! After 10 years, the R&B/soul gallant has dropped a new album and I am here for it.

This week’s Music Monday is dedicated to Charlene Keys’ new album Charlene.  These are the first two single from the album.

R&B/soul music lovers everywhere will rejoice after hearing this album. If you are tired of the R&B, or what passes for R&B, music of today, this is the album you need.

One of the many reasons why I love Tweet is because she is so constant. Charlene fits in so well with the rest of her discography it’s almost perfect. She stays true to her sound, and as I’ve said in previous post, I respect that so much.

For my readers who aren’t well reversed in Tweet’s discography, Tweet is one of the originators of the soft, smooth, soulful and almost eerie sound that we hear a lot of today. Tweet is the predecessor of artists like Jhene Akio, The Weeknd, and even Bryson Tiller. Whether you know it (or want to believe it) or not, Tweet has influenced the sounds of these artists and more. Pay respect where it’s due.

I urge you to give this album a listen. In an interview with Rolling Out Tweets says, “I feel like in this day and time, the soul of music is missing. I wanted to play a role in bringing that back to the forefront.” Well, Ms. Keys, you have done just that! I, personally, thank Charlene Keys for putting the soul back into music.

My favorite track from the record is a song called I Was Created For This. The reason will become apparent once you listen to it.
